It's been almost two weeks since a man stabbed an innocent woman inside the Winchester Public Library, and now the Middlesex District Attorney has released the terrible 911 calls made from the scene. Jeffrey Yao, who was transferred to Bridgewater State Hospital, has pleaded not guilty to the murder of 22-year-old Deane Kenny Stryker.
One of the frantic calls to emergency services included crying and yelling in the background, as the caller exclaimed “He stabbed a woman in the back!" Another call included a worried witness explain someone is stabbing people.
The calls from the incident at 10:34 a.m. on Feb. 24 were released today, and another call from the first responders was posted as well. This was a terrible tragedy that points to what has become a main focus in the United States over the past couple of months, mental illness. Yao, of Winchester, used a 10-inch hunting knife to stab Stryker almost two dozen times. Neighbors of Yao said they've had problems with him in the past, and accused him of breaking into homes and vandalizing property. Other residents even kept their children from playing outsidealone.
