VB's Book of the Month Club: "Boston's Massacre"

Every month we like to introduce you, the listeners and fans of WRKO & 'VB in the Middle', to a new book. For the month of March we bring you a book about a historical event that happened right here in Boston in the month of March back in 1770. It was on March 5th, 1770 that the Boston Massacre took place resulting in the death of 5 men. We talk to author Eric Hinderaker about his book on that very event: "Boston's Massacre".

The Boston Massacre was a result of current tension in the city between local workers/sailors and the British troops who were stationed in Boston since 1768. There are varying accounts told by different witnesses at the time of the incident on what actually prompted the troops to fire their weapons. Hinderbaker talks to VB more in detail about this famous event and how it contributed towards the Revolutionary War.

The book is being described as follows:

"On the night of March 5, 1770, British soldiers fired into a crowd gathered in front of Boston’s Custom House, killing five people. Denounced as an act of unprovoked violence and villainy, the event that came to be known as the Boston Massacre is one of the most famous and least understood incidents in American history. Eric Hinderaker revisits this dramatic confrontation, examining in forensic detail the facts of that fateful night, the competing narratives that molded public perceptions at the time, and the long campaign to transform the tragedy into a touchstone of American identity."

This book of Hinderaker's is available on Amazon for $16.95 but you can get it cheaper in Kindle version. It is getting very high reviews by customers and critics alike. To purchase "Boston's Massacre" by Eric Hinderaker, you can purchase it HERE on Amazon!

Stay tuned for next month's "Book of the Month Club"!
