Massachusetts lawmakers are looking at a bill that would ban restaurants from offering plastic straws. Customers would have to ask for a plastic straw or get one from a self-service dispenser.
Sen. Michael Barrett, (D-Lexington) is sponsoring this bill.
Another bill filed by Rep. David Rogers, (D-Cambridge), would fine restaurants up to $300 for violating the partial ban. These laws would not take effect in Massachusetts until 2021.
