Massachusetts State Representative Ayanna Pressley came out with some big, personal news yesterday. She is bald and has alopecia. The digital magazine, "The Roots" released the story in a form a video of Ayanna Pressley, where she shared her "hair story". At one point, towards the end of the video, Ayanna revealed what she looked like underneath her wig, as completely bald. She says: "It’s about self-agency. It’s about power. It’s about acceptance.” Ayanna says she increasing did not feel like herself as she was covering this up and wearing a wig everyday. She felt as though she needed to come out with this. Hear about her "hair story" here:
VB and I discussed what Ayanna did today and how we thought it was brave of her to come out with this. She did not need to do this and think what you want about her politics, but what she did was a positive or inspiring message to other young girls, boys, individuals out there who might look up to her regardless if you do or not. Agree or disagree? Was this brave of Ayanna to share her "hair story"?
