Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear held a press conference this week where he was speaking about delays or back ups in the state system when it came to unemployment claims. Beshear said they have had to deal with a lot of fraudulent claims thus causing this delay in how quickly they process unemployment claims. It was this statement that required Beshear to issue a public apology..."We had somebody apply for unemployment for Tupac Shakur here in Kentucky. That person probably thought they were being funny, they probably did — except for the fact that because of them, we've got to go through so many other claims, and one person thinking that they were funny, using somebody else's identity, is going to make tens of thousands … of other people wait."
It turns out that while fraudulent claims are a real problem in the state, Tupac Shakur was the wrong example to use because he is indeed a REAL Kentuckian! His name raised eyebrows when the unemployment claim came up but before the investigation on the individual was complete, Beshear made the mistake of quoting him as an example in his press conference addressing the delays...thus prompting the governor to have to personally call this Kentuckian, apologize, as well as issue a public apology in his next press conference.
VB feels his pain but also can't help but laugh! This story was the thing that brought a smile on VB's face today! Hear his take on this incident, here:
