Texas salon owner, Shelley Luther was sentenced to 7 days in jail earlier this week for opening her business and refusing to close it and furthermore for refusing to apologize after the judge asked her to do so, so she could just be fined and not thrown in jail. After two days locked up, the Texas Supreme Court ordered for her release. This incident in Dallas, Texas grabbed national attention. Fox News' Sean Hannity caught up with Shelley Luther the day she was released from jail and asked her about what she thought when she was asked to apologize to the local politicians in Texas for her "selfishness". Shelley Luther told Hannity that apologizing was "the last thing I was going to do".

Texas Governor Greg Abbott himself opposed the jailing of Shelley Luther and was the one who amended his own executive order, which removed the possibility of having another one else jailed again over violating stay-at-home orders. Gov. Abbott had this to say publicly about it: "Throwing Texans in jail who have had their businesses shut down through no fault of their own is nonsensical, and I will not allow it to happen. That is why I am modifying my executive orders to ensure confinement is not a punishment for violating an order."
