Comedian Chelsea Handler was up in the state of Maine over the Labor Day Weekend. While she was enjoying herself up there, she tweeted out that she has been noticing many confederate flags on properties and cars. Is that so? Have you noticed a large amount of confederate flags in any area you've visited or spent time in, in the state? Apparently Handler has so much so that she decided to bring awareness about it. We don't know exactly what area she was visiting, some reports claim it was in the Bar Harbor area. This is her tweet about the confederate flags...
Now, I myself have spent and do spend A LOT of time in Maine. I have gone to Maine from the time I was 1 week old to now being 30 and in my childhood years I spent every summer there till I was about 16 years old. I don't ever remember seeing confederate flags flying anywhere. If there is so "many" of them around, wouldn't you think I would notice or remember? Now obviously, I can't speak for the state of Maine as whole. I bet there are some flags but not "many" or as Handler is hinting at, all over the place. Furthermore I frequent a very rural area of Maine, I'm talking in the woods population of a little under 3,000 people and I don't ever remember seeing a confederate flag. Have I see one or two while visiting other areas like going to the Fryeburg Fair? Yes. I have seen someone wear a T-shirt with one or a little vendor have one at the fair but I have not see a overwhelming majority on properties or cars in my area to the level Handler is hinting at.
Chelsea Handler may have seen a bunch in her area, who knows but but word of advice to her...in this day and age, a photo goes a long way so if you're seeing a bunch of them, take a picture! It should not be that difficult to find one or two to shoot a photo of if you claim they are everywhere...
