As of the morning of Wednesday November 4th, the day after Election Day, we still do not have a winner of the Presidential race between President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden. It is "too early" to call these 6 battleground states:
- Pennsylvania
- Michigan
- Wisconsin
- Nevada
- North Carolina
- Georgia
There are varying reasons as to way the votes are not in. In Pennsylvania there is a least a million and a half votes left to be counted (this is as of 11am on Wednesday 11/4). The reason being the large amount of mail in votes (10 times more mail in votes than previous elections) they received and how the local state laws would not allow Pennsylvania as well as Wisconsin and Michigan to begin counting votes until Election Day. Other states were allowed to begin the counting process days ahead of time to prepare but the laws in PA, WI, and MI left the state's officials hands tied.
Georgia on the other hand is now reporting that they have a software issue that is causing problems with their ability to count votes:
Nevada just stopped counting votes overnight and said they will resume at 11am today, Wednesday. Then officials announced that Nevada will not reveal any statewide results again until noon on Thursday.
As for North Carolina, mail in ballots can be received until November 12th as long as they were post marked by Election Day. In other words, the ballots will still be counted for a while and we do not know the results and what they will be anytime soon.
As for the current electoral count for each Presidential candidate. Various media outlets have various projections and it's all still unfolding. Right now according to Fox News and Forbes, Biden is calculated to have 238 electoral votes and Trump is calculated to have 213 electoral votes. Now remember we're still waiting on those 6 key battleground states that can make or break the election for these candidates.
These results of course are changing hour by hour and then of course day by day as we move forward with these election calculations across the country.
