Waffles' Week Eight Picks Against The Spread

Another solid week last week, which finally puts me over .500 on the season. No looking back now, lets keep it going in Week Eight.

Home Team IN CAPS

MINNESOTA -16 over Washington

The biggest spread of Week Nine just so happens to be the first game of the week. Normally, I take the points on Thursday, especially when it’s over two touchdowns, but the Redskins are terrible, Kirk Cousins seems to have found his groove and with or without Adam Thielen, the Vikes are going to score at will against this team. The Pick: MINNESOTA 34 Washington 13

DETROIT -7 over NY Giants

I can’t in my right mind take the Giants here, outside of last week against the Vikings, the Lions have hung around in every game, and have even surprised people with a few upsets and narrow losses to good competition. Matthew Stafford is going to move the ball at will against the Giants defense. I like the Lions to cover the touchdown spread at home. The Pick: DETROIT 31 NY Giants 20

TENNESSEE -2.5 over Tampa Bay

I have no idea about this one, I’m taking the Titans because they’re at home and favored by less than a field goal. Expect an ugly game between Ryan Tannehill and Jameis Winston. The Pick: TENNESSEE 27 Tampa Bay 24

LA Chargers +4 over CHICAGO

The Chargers eventually have to cover if I keep picking them, right? I don’t trust Mitchell Trubisky at all, and I think he’ll turn the ball over enough to give Philip Rivers enough chances to put the ball in the endzone against this defense. I like the Chargers to win outright in this one. The Pick: LA Chargers 28 CHICAGO 27

Seattle -3.5 over ATLANTA

Normally I avoid taking the Seahawks in the 1pm east coast window, BUT, I refuse to take the Falcons until they prove they can be a competent football team. Atlanta is just waiting for the season to end so they can clear house and start from scratch. Russell Willson should light it up inside the dome this weekend. The Pick: Seattle 35 ATLANTA 21

NY Jets +6 over JACKSONVILLE

Adam Gase is pissed about his quarterback, Sam D’Arnold being mic’d up and revealing that he was “Seeing Ghosts” in Monday Night’s blow out loss against the Patriots. I think Gase is going to let D’Arnold sling it all over the place this week against the Jags to try to regain some confidence for the young quarterback. With Jalen Ramsey out of town, I actually like Sammy D’s chances. A sneaky shootout in Northern Florida this Sunday! The Pick: JACKSONVILLE 34 NY Jets 31

Philadelphia +1.5 over BUFFALO

I’m feeling a redemption game for the Eagles this weekend against the Bills, Philly has been downright awful the past two weeks and I think this is the perfect spot to roll the dice on them against a Buffalo team that struggled against the lowly Miami Dolphins. On top of liking the Eagles, I think we’re at the time of the season where the Bills circle wagons and fall back towards the rest of the Wild Card contenders in the AFC. The Pick: Philadelphia 24 BUFFALO 21

LA RAMS -13 over Cincinnati (LONDON)

The Bengals stink. The Rams need to keep winning games, I can’t see Sean McVay taking it easy on his former assistant Zac Taylor in this one. The Pick: LA RAMS 35 Cincinnati 14

NEW ORLEANS -9.5 over Arizona

The Saints and Teddy Bridgewater just keep on rolling with Drew Brees getting closer to returning to game action. I don’t see them having much trouble with Kyler Murray and the Cardinals at home. The Pick: NEW ORLEANS 33 Arizona 18

HOUSTON -6.5 over Oakland

Did you see what Aaron Rodgers did against this Oakland defense without his top options in the passing game? Now imagine what Deshaun Watson will do with DeAndre Hopkins at home indoors. The Texans are coming off a disappointing loss against the Colts, I think they’re going to take full advantage of this terrible Raiders defense. The Pick: HOUSTON 34 Oakland 17

Carolina +5.5 over SAN FRANCISCO

I’m all in on Kyle Allen, I think he should remain the Starting QB when Cam Newton is fully healthy. Allen makes smart decisions, doesn’t turn the ball over, and he hasn’t lost! I think that last part will be true no longer after this week, but it won’t be because of Allen’s play. San Francisco made a huge splash this week, acquiring Emmanuel Sanders from the Broncos for a couple of picks. I expect a hard fought game with Jimmy G leading the 49ers down the field for the win. The Pick: SAN FRANCISCO 26 Carolina 23

INDIANAPOLIS -6 over Denver

The Colts impressed me last week, taking care of business against the Texans at home. Denver is waving the white flag on this season, and they look terrible, struggling to move the ball against a mediocre Chiefs defense. I like Indy to take care of business this week. The Pick: INDIANAPOLIS 24 Denver 10

NEW ENGLAND -13 over Cleveland

Baker Mayfield has no idea what he’s in store for this Sunday afternoon in Foxboro. This will not be pretty. The “Boogeymen” are gonna be out to make Mayfield look like a fool, which I don’t think will be that difficult. I am very interested to see how involved the Patriots get Mohamed Sanu in his first game with the team. It’s going to be another snoozer, Pats Nation. The Pick: NEW ENGLAND 31 Cleveland 10

Green Bay -4.5 over KANSAS CITY

So Patrick Mahomes is practicing Wednesday afternoon, I think it’s all smoke and mirrors though, forcing Green Bay to prepare incase he plays. The reigning MVP is supposed to be sidelined for the next 3 weeks after dislocating his knee cap against the Broncos in Week 8. Matt Moore stepped in and looked fine running the high powered KC offense, but I can’t take him against Aaron Rodgers who just posted a perfect quarterback rating and a total of 6 touchdowns last week. Kansas City’s defense is in for a long night. The Pick: Green Bay 38 KANSAS CITY 24

PITTSBURGH -14.5 over Miami

It wouldn’t matter who’s playing Quarterback for the Steelers Monday, but Mason Rudolph is back practicing after missing one game with a concussion. Rudolph should step back in and have a career game against Miami. This one is going to be unwatchable. The Pick: PITTSBURGH 30 Miami 13

Bye: Dallas, Baltimore
