Boston Bruins To Honor 1977-1978 Team

BOSTON, MA (WBZ-AM) -- The Bruins will make a quick stop at the Garden tonight before heading out on the road for a five-game road trip that will take them to the NHL Trade deadline, but they're making the most of their time at home with a special ceremony.

Before they faceoff Flames, They will  honor the 40th anniversary of their 1977-78 Stanley Cup finalists - a tough-minded Lunchpail gang that could scrap.

That Boston club remains the only team in the league's history with 11 20-goal scorers. Peter McNab scored 41 times, Terry O'Reilly added 29, and Bobby Schmautz and Stan Jonathan each lit the lamp on 27 occasions.

The group's head coach Don Cherry will join several of his old players for a ceremonial puck-drop. McNab, O'Reilly, Jonathan, Rick Middleton, Brad Park, and Bob Miller are among those who will be in attendance.
