BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- Celtics All-Star Kyrie Irving will start the exhibition Sunday in Los Angeles and he told Jimmy Kimmel last night that he intends to take the game seriously.

"Well, I have a deep-rooted competitive spirit. So when I'm going out there, there are specific matchups you wanna go at. You wanna be prepared as best you can so it's best to get your sleep the night before."

Kimmel seemed surprised that Irving was taking the All-Star game so seriously.

"Somewhat. Somewhat. Having some fun at the same time but you wanna have that, 'I wanna destroy you' attitude as well. You don't wanna get embarrassed out there."

Irving was picked by captain Lebron James' team even after their messy breakup in Cleveland. Kimmel asked if Irving could see himself playing with James again in real competition.

"Uh, I mean in professional sports anything can happen. So, you never know."

Despite deflecting that question, it was hard to dodge his flat earth theory.

"On that podcast, I was just like 'Man, what's going on within our world?' Just a whole bunch of truth and conspiracy. I was like, 'Whoa, this is too much for me.' Then I come out and say that, and then - whew! The reaction it got..."

Irving said he is intellectually stable.
