Petition Filed To Stop Release of Child Rapist

BOSTON, MA (WBZ-AM) There's a last-minute move to prevent the release of convicted child rapist Wayne Chapman.

Attorney Wendy Murphy is representing his victims. she filed a petition with the state supreme judicial court to keep chapman locked up, claiming the process used to determine that he is no longer a danger to society--was flawed.

Murphy also says chapman' victims were told on Monday that he could be released this week, but the law requires they get at least 14 days’ notice.

Chapman has spent more than 40 years behind bars for raping two boys from Lawrence. Apparently, the Department of Corrections is still trying to figure out where Chapman will live once the 70-year-old is released.
