Cape Flyer Service Starts Friday Evening

BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- This evening at South Station, the first Cape Flyer train of the season will start chugging its way to the Cape.

Tom Cahir is administrator of the Cape Cod RTA. He tells WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Carl Stevens the reason the service has become so popular is that people are just tired of driving to the Cape in heavy traffic.

"I'm always amazed at the genuine enthusiasm expressed by the people getting off the train about how comfortable and great it was to be able to just look at the scenic vistas," Cahir said.

That's as opposed to glaring at the never-ending river of break lights.

He said he's expecting big things in the service's sixth year going from Boston to Hyannis.

"We monitor every week our service and look at ways we can improve," he said. "It's been an enourmous success."
