BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- The Patriots moved on from Brandin Cooks and Danny Amendola during the offseason, and now have a serious lack of depth at receiver. New England's made a whopping 20 transactions at the position since the first week of training camp in July--most recently, signing free agents Corey Coleman and Bennie Fowler.

The Pats are waiting for Julian Edelman to return from his four-game ban. Tom Brady--is the revolving door of receivers challenging?

"You're always faced with something," Brady said. "We've all tried to do a good job, just focused on what our role is, what our job is. Just trying to bring the best we can every day regardless of who's out there. Those guys are working hard. Everyone wants production at every part of our skill position on offense. The receiver position is very critical. I would say it's not a very easy position to learn on our offense. There's a lot of terminology, there's a lot of high expectations to perform on a very high level."

Offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels weighed in on the process of coaching that position.

"There's parts of every system in every offense that are more complex than others, and there's parts that are simple," McDaniels said. "Depending on what we're talking about--which four people, which five people, which two people, which person--if you're talking about someone who's played in the system for ten years, that's different than someone who's just getting started with it ... hopefully, we're trying to make great decisions as a staff and put people in places where they can go out there and do something that they do well."
