Who is this guy?
So it’s Wednesday morning as I type, and I just saw POTUS Trump on TV say the following about Christine Blasey Ford, Brett Kavanaugh’s accuser, “I’m interested to hear what she has to say.”
I’m sorry, WHAT?????
“I’m interested to hear what she has to say” is a totally appropriate response, but from HIM? It makes me ask the question, “Who is this guy?” There’s a long running conspiracy theory out there that Melania has a body double, but Trump’s measured tone this week about Ford has me wondering if HE has a double. I’m not kidding. Look, if you told me Trump was going to comment on Kavanaugh’s accuser, I would have expected it to go one of three ways:
- Nasty Trump: I don’t believe her. This is all political crap drummed up by the desperate Democrats, and I don’t believe a word she’s saying.
- Agitated Trump: Monday. Something better happen Monday. Either she talks or they vote. I want this done and that’s how it’s gonna be.
- Semi-civil Trump: Look, this is one of those he said/she said type things, and it happened a long time ago, and we gotta move on.
The Supreme Court is one of the main reasons I got elected President. I hope Republican Voters, and others, are watching, and studying, the Democrats Playbook.— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 19, 2018
If he said any of those, sure. If he got even nastier about it, sure. But for not one, not two, but now THREE days he’s offered nothing but civil comments on this issue? THAT is news.
It all begs the question, who? Not why, who. Who has the President’s ear right now, enough to make him understand that he has to tread lightly on this one. Trump doesn’t listen to that concept very often, and when he does he doesn’t listen to it for very long.
I’m not saying what Trump is doing is right, and I’m not saying it’s wrong. What I’m saying is it’s not Trump. And while I grant you that may have all changed by the time this article is posted, the fact that he is staying out of this fight is really, REALLLY weird. Really weird. Hmmm…
More wisdom next week.
