Suspected Burglar Caught Trying To Bury Gun Outside Of Courthouse

A man in Georgia was arrested after police captured him on surveillance cameras burying a Louis Vuitton bag which contained a handgun outside of a courthouse. Sheldon Oliver was set to appear at the Forsyth County courthouse to face charges of loitering and criminal trespass and knew he couldn't bring the gun past the metal detectors.

Oliver went around the side of the building and was seen digging up some gravel and burying the bag with the loaded weapon before walking inside. He passed through the metal detectors, but police had already seen him trying to hide the weapon. Oliver was taken into custody and charged him with reckless conduct and carrying a weapon without a license. They also discovered there was a warrant out for his arrest relating to an armed robbery at a local Islamic center.

"Do I believe he had intent to do harm inside the courthouse? No. There's no evidence to lead to that. But yet this is a person involved in criminal activity," Sheriff Ron Freeman said. "You can't take anything for granted. Was it something innocuous? Was it an explosive device?"

Oliver remains in jail and is being held on $25,000 bond.
