Las Vegas Mayor wants casinos open; says it's not her job to do it safely

Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman was on CNN speaking with Anderson Cooper about her push to open casinos and hotels in the city at whatever costs. Goodman has been doubling down on her urgency that local business must get back to normal and they should operate on a case-by-case basis if more cases/infections pop up. For example Goodman told MSNBC this: "Let the businesses open and competition will destroy that business if, in fact, they become evident that they have disease, they’re closed down. It’s that simple." Anderson Cooper challenged Goodman on this idea though, asking her that if she's encouraging thousands of people to come visit Vegas's hotel and casinos, isn't that risky and "Doesn't that sound like a virus petri dish?" Goodman snapped back saying: "It sounds like you’re being an alarmist." This started a bit of a debate that ultimately led to the Mayor saying it's up to the individual private owners of these casinos to figure out the safety guidelines, that is not her job. This completely stunned Anderson Cooper, and he had to hold back a laugh. Take a listen:
