CNN photoshops Redskins logo out of photo of Biden and his son

CNN photoshopped a picture of Joe Biden's that featured him and his son wearing a Washington Redskins knit cap in his younger years. This photograph in question is Joe Biden's personal photo that he used on social media on Father's Day this past year. Biden did not edit out the Washington Redskins logo when posting his photo on social media. Whereas CNN took that photo, edited out the logo as they thought it would draw criticism and used it in their CNN special, "Fight for the White House: Joe Biden's Long Journey." For those who are unaware, the Washington Redskins made the decision to do away with their logo this year as more and more people complained about it being offensive and insensitive towards indigenous people.

What do you make of this photoshop job by CNN? Do you think it was necessary? I don't. When this photo was taken the Washington Redskins had this logo and it was allowed. You can't just "erase" history and in this case quite literally. I don't think it was necessary because it's obvious this photo was taken during a different time when the logo was socially acceptable. I understand the logo has since been dropped and the team is no longer using it due to it being insensitive but by not erasing it does not project Biden as being insensitive towards indigenous people. Biden himself used the photo on social media without editing it so it's a none issue to me. There is no need to edit the photo. I think it was an overstep. What do you think? We discuss.
