Out of Texas, one woman went viral for not just quitting her job, it was the way she quit her job and captured the full moment on video. Her name is Shana Ragland, she was a cap 2, which is an employee who unloads trailers and organizes stock, and after almost 2 years of working at the Lubbock, Texas Walmart, she quit. Why? She quit because she claims her managers and co-workers created a toxic work environment for not only her but other employees as well. Ragland said this about her co-workers: "They would say some very nasty things to me at a very young age."
Ragland decided to quit and did it in a very attention grabbing way. She clearly wanted to make sure people heard her loud and clear about why she was quitting. She got on the store's loudspeaker and expressed how she really felt about her fellow co-workers to which at the end she quit.

Walmart did issue a statement on Shana Ragland quitting. Annie Hatfield, a spokesperson for Walmart, said this about the situation: "Walmart is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace and we take every allegation very seriously. We have spoken with the person in the video and are actively looking into her claims. Walmart does not tolerate any form of discrimination or harassment in any aspect of our business.”
What do you make of the way Shana Ragland quit? I don't blame her for quitting. If it really was that bad of a work environment, I'd quit too so I applaud her for getting out. However, the way she did it drew a lot of attention and because she filmed it and posted it online to go viral, everyone knows her name and face and I'm concerned she might have a difficult time getting a new job. Sometimes we forget how our actions in the present can affect our future, especially in the digital internet age. I hope she finds herself another better job.
