Everett Restauranteur Says Goodbye To Bull Statue After Battle With City

EVERETT, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Back in April, we brought you the story of an Everett restaurant owner's battle to keep his enormous (and quite expensive) bull statue out in front of his establishment.

Wilton Rangel told WBZ NewsRadio's Carl Stevens that he paid $5,000 to import the gigantic statue from Brazil, and another $2,000 to mount it on a platform outside Oliveira's Restaurant—but the city's building manager said the statue constituted an advertisement, and had to be taken down.

Now, Rangel said he's tired of fighting City Hall.

"Now I have to sell the bull or find a place to put it, or I might donate it to some place here in Everett," Rangel said. "But I'd like to sell the bull now ... it's over."

So if you're in the market for a large, anatomically-correct bull statue, write Mr. Rangel a check for $5,000.

"I wish the bull was alive, so I could kill the bull and sell the meat!" he said.
