UPDATE: Chelsea Police said around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday that the driver of the truck turned himself in.
CHELSEA, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Police are searching for the driver of a truck that struck a pedestrian in Chelsea Wednesday afternoon, and then drove off.
Chelsea Police Chief Brian Kyes said the 28-year-old man was struck as he walked in the crosswalk at Broadway and Everett Street around 4 p.m.
The hit-and-run collision was captured on video from a local business, seen above, as well as other video released by Chelsea Police.
The victim was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Chief Kyes said the truck appeared to be a newer-model Ford 150 pickup truck, which drove down Cross Street toward Park Square and East Boston after the incident. Chelsea Police said it may have damage to its hood, as well as a non-working right rear break light.
Kyes said video footage is being analyzed to try to identify the truck's driver, and a description of the truck was sent out to law enforcement in nearby cities.
