BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — After a few nice days and a rainy July, it's time to break out the umbrellas again.

The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for most of Eastern Mass., ahead of a large storm that is likely to bring two or more inches of heavy rain to Greater Boston.

The watch stretches from the Merrimack Valley south to the South Coast, and includes Worcester and both the North and South Shore.

The entirety of Rhode Island is also in the watch area. The agency said Boston is virtually guaranteed to get about an inch of rain, and could get up to three. To make that more real, if this storm were in January, that would mean it was carrying between a foot and three feet of snow.

The worst of the storm will hit late Wednesday and overnight into Thursday, beginning at around 8:00 PM and going through Thursday morning, when the watch will expire at 11:00 AM. It's not clear where the most rain will fall, but it will probably be in a band between the South Shore and Rhode Island.
