TEWKSBURY, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — More than 650 holiday care packages for U.S. troops in the Middle East by members of the Teamsters Joint Council 10 New England's Committee on Saturday.

This is the third row in a row the group put together care packages for U.S. soldiers in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Kuwait.

About 70 women volunteers, along with a few Teamster men, came to the Teamster Local 25 Driving School in Tewksbury to put together the packages.

Teamsters Local 25 President Sean O'Brien said the effort is "to make certain that these soldiers are aware that we are thankful for their service and commitment, and their sacrifice for not being able to be home for the holidays with their families."

The packages contained items like toiletries, coffee, and food. They also contained a special message written by a student from Boston and Medford schools.

With more than 650 packages, this is the most the group has ever put together in the years since the project began.
