NORTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A Norton High School junior is getting a head start on his higher education.
16-year-old Chris Strynar will graduate from Harvard Extension School in May with a bachelor's degree in math.
Strynar considers himself a normal kid who loves tennis, plays video games, and has a girlfriend, but also has a tremendous drive and passion for learning.
"It's just because I enjoy doing the work," said Strynar. "And when you enjoy doing the work, it's not really work, is it?"
Strynar's father, Chris Sr., knew from an early age that his son was smarter than he.
"He would start doing grade level work and just blow right through that, to the point where he was teaching himself calculus," Chris Sr. said.
Strynar is looking into a number of schools for his master's degree, but hopes to get into the PhD program at MIT in physics.
