BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A lawyer representing an adult entertainment club told a judge this week that he "can't wait" to cross-examine one of the most famous woman suing the club.
According to Salem News, the lawsuit was filed last July on behalf of several models and actresses, including Carmen Electra, against the Golden Banana strip club for the unauthorized use of their images.
During a virtual hearing on Thursday with U.S. District Court Judge Leo Sorokin, the lawyer representing Electra said even after being served the lawsuit, the strip club continued to illegally use Electra's image in promotional materials.
Although it was intended as a status conference, Salem News says a lawyer for the Golden Banana tried to get the case dismissed entirely, arguing the plaintiffs don't have any legal grounds to file the lawsuit.
Golden Banana's attorney Carlos Apostle said he'd spent an extended amount of time doing legal research, and he said the case should be dismissed because among other things, Electra cannot be defamed by suggesting she's associated with a strip club, because she has her own line of "stripper poles."
Apostle also told Judge Sorokin that he wanted to see the entertainer in court.
"I do think this plaintiff is just looking for a settlement," Apostle told the judge. "That is never going to happen. I want this case to go to trial ... I can't wait to cross-examine Carmen Electra."
"You've made that clear," Judge Sorokin responded.
Electra's attorneys also filed an amended complaint that will also add two other "sister" businesses, new plaintiffs, and new counts to the suit.
