CHARLESTOWN, Rhode Island (WBZ NewsRadio) — Blues and "boogie woogie" artist Veronica Lewis, 16, has been already been playing music for a decade—and the shows keep coming.

The New Hampshire native will play alongside her idols Marcia Ball and Victor Wainwright this weekend the Rhythm and Roots Festival in Charlestown, Rhode Island. Lewis will play an hour-long set in the main lineup of the festival.

Lewis says she's influenced by artists such as Katie Webster, Pinetop Perkins, and Fats Domino.

"This year I'll be performing in a 'Memories of Mac' showcase, and that's Dr. John, in memory of him," Lewis said. "He did pass [away] June of this year, and I ended up writing a song for him, and I'll be performing that Sunday with Marcia Ball."

Earlier this summer, Lewis went from solo to trio, adding a drummer and saxophonist to her line-up. She looks forward to playing the festival for the second time.

"I love Rhythm and Roots, it's a really great festival. It's really everything you'd want in a music festival like this...everyone there is super excited to be there," Lewis said. "Of course, there are some many talented musicians."
