Lady Gaga: "Yes, people saw love"

Lady Gaga appeared on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" on Wednesday night and was asked about her and ‘A Star Is Born’ co-star Bradley Cooper's performance of "Shallow" at Sunday's Academy Awards.

"You had such a connection with Bradley that instantly, and I guess this is a compliment, people started saying, 'Oh, they must be in love,'" said Jimmy Kimmel. Lady Gaga responded by revealing the co-stars were acting out the love song — and not really in love with each other.

"Yes, people saw love and guess what? That's what we wanted you to see," said Gaga, "This is a love song, 'Shallow.' The movie 'A Star is Born,' it's a love story."

"From a performance perspective, it was so important to both of us that we were connected the entire time," Gaga said. "I've had my arms wrapped around Tony Bennett for three years touring the world. When you're singing love songs, that's how you want people to feel."

Lady Gaga recently won best original song for "Shallow" at the Ocars.

"I'm an artist and I guess we did a good job," she told Kimmel. "Fooled ya!"
