Kuhner's Corner: Are Kavanaugh’s Accusers Lying?

Democrats are coordinating a smear campaign

By Jeffrey T. Kuhner

Judge Brett Kavanaugh is the victim of a coordinated Democratic smear campaign. The conservative Supreme Court nominee is being targeted for one reason: Liberals fear that, should he be confirmed, Kavanaugh will be the decisive vote on the high court to overturn Roe v. Wade. This good, decent man (and brilliant jurist) is being destroyed because of abortion politics.

Ricki Seidman, a top adviser to Christine Blasey Ford’s legal team, bragged in a July group phone call with other pro-abortion progressive activists, that Democrats had a “strategy” to sink Kavanaugh’s nomination—and that it would unfold over the “coming weeks and months.” Translation: Sen. Dianne Feinstein, California Democrat, was sitting on Ford’s anonymous accusations and waiting for the last-minute to spring them.

Moreover, Debra Katz, Ford’s lead lawyer, is a long-time Democratic operative, who defended Bill Clinton against Paula Jones and Al Franken from sexual misconduct allegations. Katz doesn’t care about women’s rights. She only cares about one thing—power. In particular, she wants to push her radical feminist left-wing agenda. In fact, after Jeff Sessions was confirmed as attorney general, Katz told ABC News that her mission was to “resist, resist, resist” the Trump administration.

It is not only Katz, who is a card-carrying member of the anti-Trump “resistance.” The mainstream media is deliberately suppressing a seminal fact about both of Kavanaugh’s accusers: They are political partisans engaged in a grotesque character assassination. Ford is not simply a registered Democrat. Rather, she is a rabid anti-Trumper, who participated in the Women’s March on Washington in January 2017. She has also signed numerous petitions against Trump’s border wall and calling for his impeachment.

Ford’s story is not just false; it is fantasy. She cannot name the address, location or neighborhood where the alleged sexual attack took place. She cannot even specify the rough date—month, week, before or after the end of the school year—except for the “summer” of 1982. Yet, Ford’s claims are not only uncorroborated and unsubstantiated—there is not a sliver of evidence to bolster her allegations. They have been directly repudiated. The three witnesses that Ford cites as having been either in the room or at the party when the supposed assault occurred deny her version of events. Mark Judge and Patrick Smyth said it never happened. Leland Keyser, a former classmate and life-long friend, said that she cannot remember the party or Kavanaugh being drunk—ever. On top of this, 65 women—from high school, college and those who have worked with him—signed a letter testifying to his stellar character and mortal integrity. In short, Ford is obviously lying.

Deborah Ramirez’s allegations are even weaker. She is supposedly the “other woman” who the New Yorker magazine claims to be a victim of Kavanaugh. Like Ford, Ramirez is a registered Democrat and staunch Trump hater. She is a feminist socialist with ties to George Soros. Ramirez claims Kavanaugh exposed himself to her at a drunken dormitory party at Yale when they were both college freshman. The problem, however, is that no witnesses can corroborate her story. In fact, Ramirez concedes that she herself is uncertain about whether Kavanaugh was the actual perpetrator. Why? Because Ramirez admits she was practically blind drunk and that there are “wide gaps” in her memory. Even the New York Times, after investigating Ramirez’s allegations, refused to publish her story. The Times said that, after talking to over three dozen close classmates and alleged witnesses who could have known about the party, none—not one—was willing to corroborate her accusations. Moreover, the Times said Ramirez called many of her former classmates and admitted to them that she herself was not sure Kavanaugh was the one who exposed his penis to her. That the New Yorker would publish such unsubstantiated garbage is outrageous and defamatory. It is the very definition of fake news.

Kavanaugh’s reputation lies in tatters. The Democratic-media complex has ruthlessly demonized and attacked him, to the point that a plurality of Americans now believe he is a wannabe rapist and murderer. Joseph Goebbels must be laughing from Hell. The left is on the verge of creating a liberal totalitarian society. Call it guilt by accusation. If the Democrats succeed in sinking Kavanaugh’s nomination, then they will turn on its head the central precept of the Anglo-American legal system: the presumption of innocence and due process. In liberal eyes, Kavanaugh is already guilty.

Republicans need to confirm him. Otherwise, today it will be Kavanaugh. Tomorrow, it will be you or me. No one will be safe from the raging #MeToo mob.
