Box Office Hits Weekend of September 14th

What's on tap for entertainment watching this weekend? What's premiering and coming out in theaters? I have the scoop for you here! Whether you want to check out a flick at your local movie theater or curl up on your couch at home, here are all the available options for you:

Movies:

1) The Predator

The Predator is about the universe's most lethal hunter and his return to Earth after a young boy accidentally triggers his return. A team of soldiers along with a science teacher, take on the task of stopping "the predator". The movie stars Olivia Munn, Boyd Holbrook (Narcos), Sterling K. Brown, and Trevante Rhodes. 

This sci-fy, horror, action flick is rated R. In total it's an hour and 47 minute movie.

2) A Simple Favor

This comedy crime drama stars Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick. It's about one woman, who is a mother and vlogger who sets out to investigate the disappearance of her best friend from a small town. IMDB says the film is filled "with twists and betrayals, secrets and revelations, love and loyalty, murder and revenge."

This film is rated R and it's close to a 2 hour film.

3) Unbroken: Path to Redemption

This flick is based off of Laura Hillenbrand's best selling book "Unbroken". It's a continuation or followup to 2014's movie, "Unbroken". It's about the Olympian and World War II hero Louis Zamperini's powerful true story of forgiveness, redemption, and amazing grace. Actor Samuel Hunt is the leading actor and it also features Merritt Patterson (The Royals), Gary Cole, and Will Graham (grandson of famed preacher Billy Graham).

This film is a little over an hour and a half. It's a biography drama that's rated PG-13.

TV:

1) American Vandal Season 2

The series continues in season 2 with it's regular crime drama satire style. The first season covers the exploration behind a high school prank that left some 27 faculty cars vandalized with inappropriate images. The second season that is aired on Netflix, takes on a new mystery. The goal is to uncover who is behind this school cafeteria's lemonade contamination debacle. 

The series is listed as a comedy and the new season is available, today on Netflix.

2) Amy Schumer Presents Sam Morrill: Positive Influence

On Comedy Central, a special featuring comedian Sam Morrill is airing today, Friday 9/14 at 11pm. It showcases one of Morrill's standup performances. 

As with a lot of comedy containing adult content, viewer discretion is advised.

3) Bojack Horseman Season 5

The netflix animated series is back for a 5th season. The talking horse is voiced by comedian Will Arnett and is being aired on Netflix. A little about Bojack and his story: "BoJack Horseman was the star of the hit TV show "Horsin' Around" in the '90s, now he's washed up, living in Hollywood, complaining about everything, and wearing colorful sweaters."

Even though the program is animated, it's rated MA for "mature audiences". There are 12 new episodes available starting this weekend.

4) NFL Sunday

Then we have NFL Sunday. Now that we are into football season, we can't forget about all the games happening Sunday and Monday! Here is a full schedule for this weekend's games.

5) The 70th Primetime Emmy Awards-Monday 9/17 at 8pm EST

The Primetime Emmy Awards will broadcast live on Monday night at 8pm EST and 5pm PT on NBC. To take a look at all the prospects who are up for awards and the categories, a list is provided, HERE.
