Today, President Trump spoke to the media outside the White House about the growing calls by Democrats to try and impeach him again for the second time. Trump said the impeachment try is: "a continuation of the greatest witch hunt in the history of politics". He went on to say how ridiculous the attempts by the Democrats are and how their actions in trying to impeach him are causing "tremendous anger". Trump went so far as saying what House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer are doing is causing "tremendous danger to our country". These comments come just shy of a week after the chaos that erupted on Capitol Hill.
The very reason Democrats are trying to impeach the President (again) is based on his speech last week at the Ellipse where they are accusing him of inciting violence with his speech. President Trump was asked today about his role in what happened in D.C. last week where 5 people lost their lives, including a Capitol Police officer. Trump said his speech prior to the storming of the Capitol Building, was and has been analyzed and people say it was totally appropriate.
Two questions here:
1) Is the impeachment calls and "witch hunt" as President Trump puts it, warranted?
2) Was President Trump's speech last week on the Ellipse, appropriate? Is it on the level of inciting violence?
If you ask me, I think the impeachment calls are ridiculous, so I do agree with Trump in that sense. You have two weeks left of his term, actually less than that, and you think the government can and is going to move that fast to impeach him? Because we all know the government is known for moving quickly...Furthermore, Joe Biden is about to come into office, what is the point of all this time and energy with such a short period of time left? The Democrats might view it as a national emergency, I do not. That's for starters & secondly, I doubt President Trump's speech can be fully interpreted as inciting violence solely based on his words. Yes, we know there was violence at Capitol Hill, and yes I'm sure Trump riled people up BUT he did not say be violent, he did not say take them out and breach the building, it's a very fine line here and I don't think it's on the level of impeachment but tell me why I might be wrong.
