The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Boston and most of Massachusetts beginning at eleven a.m. Monday and running through eight p.m. Tuesday. The heat index is expected to approach 100 degrees both today and tomorrow.

The service warns that heat related illness can happen for people who do not take precautions.

Boston Mayor Marty Walsh announced in a press release Monday morning that all Boston Centers for Youth & Families pools would be open free of charge to help all residents keep cool.

City officials also reminded residents to check in on their elderly neighbors, wear sunscreen, keep hydrated, and limit outdoor activity.
