Astros Executive Taunted Female Reporters About Roberto Osuna: Report

League Championship Series - New York Yankees v Houston Astros - Game Six

A Houston Astros executive has been accused of taunting three female reporters in the locker room following the team's victory against the New York Yankees in the American League Championship Series.

According to a report by Sports Illustrated's Stephanie Apstein, Assistant General Manager Brandon Taubman started screaming about signing Roberto Osuna as the team's closer, despite the fact that he received a 75-game suspension following allegations of domestic violence.

"And in the center of the room, assistant general manager Brandon Taubman turned to a group of three female reporters, including one wearing a purple domestic-violence awareness bracelet, and yelled, half a dozen times, 'Thank God we got Osuna! I'm so f------ glad we got Osuna!'"

After Taubman's outburst, another staff member from the team apologized to the reporters.

The Astros released a statement calling the story "misleading and completely irresponsible." The team claimed that Taubman's comments were "about the game situation that just occurred," even though Osuna gave up a game-tying home run in the top of the ninth inning.

"The story posted by Sports Illustrated is misleading and completely irresponsible. An Astros player was being asked questions about a difficult outing. Our executive was supporting the player during a difficult time. His comments had everything to do about the game situation that just occurred and nothing else – they were also not directed toward any specific reporters. We are extremely disappointed in Sports Illustrated's attempt to fabricate a story where one does not exist."
