The Louisiana Supreme Court is rejecting an appeal by abortion providers on the state's trigger law.
Justices ruled today the abortion ban would stay in place while the entire appeals process plays out. It means abortion clinics have to close.
Abortion advocates expressed unhappiness while pro-life organizations said they were thrilled with the decision to reinstate the abortion ban.
The news comes as lawyers representing abortion clinics in Florida say they're asking the state Supreme Court to review an appeals ruling that allowed the 15-week ban to remain in effect as more legal action plays out. They have argued the legislation violates a privacy clause listed in the state Constitution.
