On Sunday, migrants threw rocks and bottles that hit U.S. Border Patrol agents at the San Ysidro Port of Entry. Border Patrol responded by firing tear gas and rubber bullets into crowds of people as they neared the border.

President Trump was asked by reporters about the use of tear gas at the border. He said, “They had to use [it] because they were being rushed by some very tough people. And they used tear gas,” he argued. “And here's the bottom line: Nobody's coming into our country unless they come in legally.”

President Trump added, “First of all, the tear gas is a very minor form of the tear gas itself. It's very safe. The ones that were suffering to a certain extent were the people that were putting it out there. But it's really safe.”

Should the border patrol agents have used tear gas against the migrants?
