Special counsel Robert Mueller says charging a president with a crime was "not an option.”
“If we had had confidence that the president clearly did not commit a crime, we would have said so,” Mueller declared.
Mueller also said that his team never considered indicting Trump. Why? Because the Justice Department forbids the prosecution of a sitting president.
“Charging the president with a crime was therefore not an option we could consider.” Mueller said.
Mueller also announced that he's leaving the Justice Department now that the Russia investigation has come to an end.
