President Trump vs. "The Squad"

On Sunday, President Trump tweeted congresswomen should “go back” and fix the countries “they originally came from.”

He tweeted, “So interesting to see ‘Progressive’ Democrat Congresswomen, who originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe, the worst, most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world … loudly and viciously telling the people of the United States, the greatest and most powerful Nation on earth, how our government is to be run,” wrote Trump. “Why don’t they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came. Then come back and show us how it’s done.”

These series of tweets were condemned as “racist” by Democrats and some Republicans.

U.S. Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ayanna Pressley, Rashida Tlaib, and Ilhan Omar, known as, ‘the squad’ held a press conference on Monday. They all took turns to take a shot at the president.

“I will always refer to him as the occupant as he is only occupying space,” Pressley said at the presser. “He does not embody the grace, the empathy, the compassion, the integrity that that office requires and that the American people deserve.”

Omar of Minnesota called for the presidents’ impeachment. “So, it is time for us to stop allowing this president to make a mockery out of our Constitution,” Omar said. “It’s time for us to impeach this president.”

Were President Trump’s tweets racist?
