One Atlanta police officer has been fired and another was reassigned following an officer involved shooting Friday night. Police shot and killed 27-year-old Rayshard Brooks in the parking lot of a Wendy’s.
Following the shooting, the city’s police chief, Erika Shields, stepped down from her position.
Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms held a press conference on Saturday and called for the immediate firing of the officer who opened fire at Brooks.
“I do not believe that this was a justified use of deadly force and have called for the immediate termination of the officer," Bottoms said.
