Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden picks Sen. Kamala Harris as his 2020 vice presidential running mate.
"I have the great honor to announce that I’ve picked @KamalaHarris — a fearless fighter for the little guy, and one of the country’s finest public servants — as my running mate," Biden tweeted.
Harris wrote in a tweet after Biden’s announcement.
"And as president, he'll build an America that lives up to our ideals," she tweeted. "I'm honored to join him as our party's nominee for Vice President, and do what it takes to make him our Commander-in-Chief."
Sen. Harris sparred with Biden during a Democratic debate over his opposition to federally mandated bussing to integrate racially segregated schools earlier in his political career.
Harris eventually dropped out of the presidential race in December 2019.
