Joe Biden deliberately deceived and lied to the American people. The result is a historic strategic failure and humanitarian catastrophe—one that will haunt the United States for decades to come. He is unfit to be president, and must be removed from office.
In July, Biden told America—and the world—that his decision to order an immediate, rapid, almost overnight withdrawal of all U.S. military forces from Afghanistan would not lead to the “Taliban overrunning the country.” In fact, he claimed that there would be no repeat of Saigon, when the last American troops were forced into a humiliating retreat, with U.S. helicopters flying from the rooftop of our embassy in the face of a victorious North Vietnamese army.
Yet, that is exactly what took place: The Taliban’s blitzkrieg offensive swept away the Afghan security forces. The Islamic terrorists now occupy and control Afghanistan—including its capital, Kabul. Our embassy has been abandoned. American helicopters had to frantically transport our diplomatic personnel to the airport in Kabul, which is encircled and surrounded by triumphant Taliban forces. The Jihadists also control all access points to the airport. Thousands of U.S. civilians are trapped inside the country. They have no means or protection to get to the airport in order to board evacuation flights. They are effectively hostages of the Taliban. We are now at their mercy. The Taliban decides whether our people get out alive—or whether they are kidnapped, abducted or slaughtered. America has been humiliated on the world stage.
Worst of all, Biden knew this would happen. According to countless media reports, including detailed exposes in The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times (to name just a few), senior U.S. military and intelligence officials in June told Biden that his plan for an immediate pull out of all troops would lead to a quick collapse of the Afghan government and a stunning victory for the Taliban. Furthermore, they warned him that there were no evacuation plans in place, and that civilian lives would be jeopardized by Biden’s precipitous withdrawal—especially, his grossly irresponsible idea to get our military forces out before our civilians and diplomats. Instead, he not only dithered, but deliberately ignored them. In short, he knew Afghanistan was going to fall—and quickly. Yet, several weeks later, he still lied to the American people, assuring the public and our Afghan allies that the Taliban posed no immediate danger.
The results have been catastrophic: revenge killings by Taliban thugs; women openly beaten and whipped on the streets; young girls forced into marriages with Taliban fighters or sold into sex slavery; countless refugees pouring into neighboring countries; and heartbreaking scenes of desperate Afghans at the Kabul airport trying to get out on an evacuation flight before they are murdered or tortured by Taliban Jihadists bent on retribution, some clinging to the wheel of a plane and then falling to their deaths from the sky.
The new Taliban government has declared an “Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan”—the successor state to ISIS. Their goal: To impose a pure form of Islam based on Sharia Law. The country’s women, girls and minorities will be returning to the Dark Ages. The Taliban are also calling for Islamist fighters from all over the world to pour back into Afghanistan in order to wage a holy war against the West—especially, America. Only this time terrorists will be armed with billions of dollars in state-of-the-art U.S. military equipment—including Black Hawk helicopters, fighter jets, American-made Humvees and armored vehicles—left behind by Biden’s withdrawal. Afghanistan will become a safe haven (again) to launch future 9/11 attacks on the United States and Europe.
Biden surrendered Afghanistan to our mortal enemies. And by keeping our southern border wide open, he is all but inviting Jihadists to infiltrate the United States and target U.S. citizens. He has also destroyed American credibility with our allies. After this shameful betrayal, who will ever trust or want to partner with us again? He has reduced America to a paper tiger—or in the words of Richard Nixon, a pitiful, helpless giant.
Biden’s greatest crime, however, is he has frittered away the hard-won gains of our brave troops. America invested considerable blood and treasure in Afghanistan. Over 2,400 U.S. soldiers were killed; about 20,000 were wounded or maimed; and $1 trillion was spent. By deliberately bungling, even sabotaging the withdrawal, Biden dishonored their memory and sacrifice. He is a traitor, a Benedict Arnold who regardless of the reason—advanced mental decline, a callous Swamp creature consumed by power, arrogance and hubris, or a fatally compromised and corrupt agent of Communist China doing the bidding of Beijing—poses a clear and present danger to U.S. national security.
He needs to resign. And if he won’t, then it’s time to invoke the 25th Amendment or impeach and remove him. He is not fit to serve as commander-in-chief. Biden must go—the sooner, the better.
