Mitt Romney's Op-Ed Bashing POTUS Trump

The ball barely dropped and former governor of Massachusetts from 2003-2007, Mitt Romney is out there dropping an op-ed bashing President Trump in The Washington Post! Way to start off the new year with a bang right? He has not even been sworn into the Senate for Utah yet! It's obvious he's made his new 2019 resolution to be that of the new star "Anti-Trumper". A 2012, presidential nominee, he still has this pipe dream that he's going to become President someday and in his mind, this is the first step on his new path towards that.

This is just a snip-it from his op-ed:

"The Trump presidency made a deep descent in December. The departures of Defense Secretary Jim Mattis and White House Chief of Staff John F. Kelly, the appointment of senior persons of lesser experience, the abandonment of allies who fight beside us, and the president’s thoughtless claim that America has long been a “sucker” in world affairs all defined his presidency down.

It is well known that Donald Trump was not my choice for the Republican presidential nomination. After he became the nominee, I hoped his campaign would refrain from resentment and name-calling. It did not. When he won the election, I hoped he would rise to the occasion. His early appointments of Rex Tillerson, Jeff Sessions, Nikki Haley, Gary Cohn, H.R. McMaster, Kelly and Mattis were encouraging. But, on balance, his conduct over the past two years, particularly his actions last month, is evidence that the president has not risen to the mantle of the office."

For the full op-ed, read on The Washington Post's website of it, HERE!

It did not take long for President Trump to read the op-ed & comment on it. First with a tweet, then a public statement:

As someone from Massachusetts (or not), what do you make of Mitt Romney (or better referred to by Kuhner as "Mittens")? If you lived here during his Governorship, you know first hand how he governed this state...will you vote for him given the option if he's running against POTUS Trump?

Romney is dominating the news cycle today and appeared on CNN with Jake Tapper to discuss the current state of the country and "to make it very clear where I stand".
