Over/Under Win Predictions for Every NFC Team in 2019

Labor Day has come and gone and that means one thing, FOOTBALL IS BACK! Today and Tomorrow I’ll break down the win total predictions for each NFL team, starting with the NFC below.

Lines courtesy of PointsBet/The Action Network as of 8/31.

NFC East

Philadelphia Eagles

2018 Record: 9-7

2019 Win Total: 10

The Pick: OVER

Carson Wentz is back, Jordan Howard comes over from the Bears to bolster the running game, the Eagles are a solid football team across the board and the class of this division which is always a dog fight to the finish. As long as Wentz is healthy this team should have no problem reaching double digit wins.

Dallas Cowboys

2018 Record 10-6

2019 Win Total: 9

The Pick: UNDER

This pick is under the assumption that Zeke Elliott is going to miss a few games due to his hold out, throw in the rumors that Dak Prescott is looking for north of 30 million dollars a year, Jerry Jones’ team is set up for a disastrous but entertaining 2019 campaign. If Zeke does miss time, we’re gonna find out real quick how good Prescott is.

Washington Redskins

2018 Record: 7-9

2019 Win Total: 6

The Pick: UNDER

Jay Gruden announced that Case Keenum will be the Starting QB to start the season for the Redskins, meaning first round pick Dwayne Haskins will be redshirting for a bit. Keenum is 26-28 as a starter but if you take out his 2017 season with a loaded Minnesota Vikings team that drops to 15-25. Throw in that their Franchise Left Tackle wants out of Washington, the Redskins may be battling for the first overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

New York Giants

2018 Record: 5-11

2019 Win Total: 6

The Pick: OVER

I’m saying over on this one, even though I think it will push. The Giants can’t tank right, and Eli Manning will somehow luck into a few wins to keep delaying the eventual take-over for Daniel Jones. I don’t think the Giants are as bad as a lot of the talking heads will have you believe. Saquon Barkley is a stud and if the receiving core can stay healthy/out of trouble, the offense will put up points.

NFC North

Chicago Bears

2018 Record: 12-4

2019 Win Total: 9

The Pick: OVER

The Bears are returning almost the same team from a year ago, swapping out Jordan Howard for rookie running back David Montgomery out of Stanford, and Adrian Amos for Ha Ha Clinton-Dix at safety. Mitchell Tribusky is shaky at best but this is an all around solid football team. They won’t be as good as last season’s 12-4 but they’ll still have double digit wins.

Minnesota Vikings

2018 Record 8-7-1

2019 Win Total: 9

The Pick: OVER

The Vikings will bounce back from a disappointing 2018 season, they’re led by Kirk Cousins, a healthy Dalvin Cook, and the best Wide Receiver tandem in the NFL in Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs to go along with a good defense, Minnesota will overtake the Bears and reclaim the NFC North title.

Green Bay Packers

2018 Record: 6-9-1

2019 Win Total: 9

The Pick: UNDER

The top three teams in this division all have their win total set at nine, and when it comes to the Packers, I just don’t get it. They may have Aaron Rodgers (who is on the back nine of his career now) but even he can’t make up for the mediocre talent all around this team. Maybe finally getting rid of Mike McCarthy will give Green Bay a jolt but I just don’t see it, brace for another sub-500 season Cheeseheads.

Detroit Lions

2018 Record: 6-10

2019 Win Total: 6.5

The Pick: UNDER

Same old story for the Lions, notorious underachievers, even when they’re “good” they’re not that good. Detroit is trying to be the Patriots of the midwest after giving Trey Flowers a ton of money and bringing in Danny Amendola, but that’s not enough to change the dysfunction of this football team. Can we officially put Matt Patricia on the hot seat?

NFC South

New Orleans Saints

2018 Record 13-3

2019 Win Total 10.5

The Pick: OVER

Fueled by getting absolutely jobbed by the refs in the NFC Championship Game (even though they still had two more plays inside the 10 after that non-call) the Saints are pissed and on a mission this year. This team is the class of the NFC and my pick to represent the conference in the Super Bowl. New Orleans will beat that win total with ease.

Atlanta Falcons

2018 Record 7-9

2019 Win Total: 8.5

The Pick: OVER

As always with the Falcons, if they’re healthy on defense, they're going to win a lot of football games. Matt Ryan leads what should be one of the best offenses in football again this year. They’re three toughest non division games on paper are all at home, the Dirty Birds will regain playoff form and be a wild card team in 2019.

Carolina Panthers

2018 Record: 7-9

2019 Win Total: 7.5

The Pick: UNDER

Cam Newton is already banged up, the offensive line is hot garbage, their best Wide Receiver is their Running Back and the defense will take a step back. Carolina won’t reach the win total even though they’ll most likely be gifted two wins by an even worse team in their division!

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

2018 Record: 5-11

2019 Win Total: 6.5

The Pick: UNDER

“With the first pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select….” This is a bad football team, led by a bad Quarterback. Jameis Winston is an awful QB, and an even more awful person. I have yet to hear a good reason why Bruce Arians came out of retirement to coach this bunch. I’ll be shocked if they reach 4 wins, let alone 6.

NFC West

Los Angeles Rams

2018 Record: 13-3

2019 Win Total: 10.5

The Pick: OVER

Outside of New England, teams that lose the Super Bowl usually take a step back the following season. I do expect that to be the case with the Rams, as I don’t think they reach 13 wins again in 2019. But, their schedule has a lot of cupcakes on it and Sean McVay is a good coach, and will keep this team motivated as they try to get back to the Super Bowl.

Seattle Seahawks

2018 Record: 10-6

2019 Win Total: 8.5

The Pick: OVER

The Seahawks absolutely fleeced the Houston Texans for stud pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney. He’ll immediately boost a defense that has been struggling to find an identity in the post Legion of Boom era. Russell Wilson gets freak athlete D.K. Metcalf to throw passes to, as the latter will try to help pick up the slack from Doug Baldwin’s retirement. The Hawks will be in a lot of close games, but with Wilson I like their chances to come out victorious more often than not.

San Francisco 49ers

2018 Record: 4-12

2019 Win Total: 8

The Pick: UNDER

Jimmy Garoppolo has returned from his nasty leg injury that ended his 2018 season, but he hasn’t exactly looked good in limited preseason action (or in practice for that matter). The Wide Receiving core is shaky at best and the defense has a ton of question marks. This team reeks of 6-10.

Arizona Cardinals

2018 Record: 3-13

2019 Win Total: 5

The Pick: UNDER

All eyes are on first overall pick Kyler Murray as he is handed the keys to an offense with a lot of issues. The 2018 Heisman Trophy winner is very talented but he’s going to be eaten alive by some of the defensive fronts he’ll face this season. It wouldn’t surprise me if he privately second guesses his decision to play football over baseball a few times this year. Add in a rookie head coach with zero NFL coaching experience and this will be a long year in the desert.

Playoff Predictions:

Eagles - x

Vikings - x

Saints - x

Rams - x

Falcons

Bears

*x denotes division winners

Stay tuned tomorrow for my AFC picks!
