Waffles' Five Takeaways from Week One of the NFL Season

It's my favorite Monday of the year, Over-reaction Monday to Week 1 of the NFL Season! 14 of the 16 games are in the books, and I have some key takeaways from our first Sunday of the 2019 NFL Season, Let's get started.

1.) The Cleveland Browns extend their Week One win-less streak

The Browns have had so much hype around them heading into this year, with many people claiming that they are going to win the AFC North, and make some serious noise in the AFC, threatening the Patriots stranglehold on the Conference. That still can be the case, but it did not look good in Cleveland on Sunday afternoon. Baker Mayfield was atrocious completing 25/38 passes with 1 touchdown and 3 interceptions, he also had a fumble as the Browns offense struggled against the Titans all day long.

Also, Odell Beckham was wearing 350 THOUSAND DOLLAR watch while playing, and he had a lackluster Browns debut. Rookie Head Coach Freddie Kitchens could have a long year ahead of him, there's a lot of ego on this club and it's not hard to imagine conflicts arising if the Browns don't start winning. Luckily for them, the have the Jets next week.

2.) Meet Vikings Super Fan Syd Davy:

Now THAT is how you rep your favorite team. 61 years old and still dresses up in full Viking garb and pants his face purple! Look at those accolades! 300 lb bench press (nice humble brag), travels EIGHT hours to every game, and a fantastic VB approved nickname "100% Cheese Free". Just from one look at this guy, it's no wonder he never has to buy his own beer!

3.) Favorite Name of Week One? Gardner Minshew II

The Nick Foles era got off to a rough start in Jacksonville, Foles broke his collarbone in the first half of Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Have no fear Jags fans, Gardner Minshew and his awesome Handlebar Mustache are here to make you forget all about Nick Foles. Minshew, who played college ball at Washington State, was the 2018 Pac-12 Offensive Player of the year, and set a NFL Rookie Record by completing his first 13 passes (previous record was 9 by Brad Johnson). The Jags got smoked by the Chiefs, but they may have something in their 6th Round Pick, Minshew went 22/25 for 275 yards with 2 TD's and 1 INT.

Look at that Stache!

4.) Tom Brady Says Antonio Brown Can Move in With Him Until He Gets Settled

Incase you haven't heard by now, Antonio Brown forced his way out of Oakland and signed with the Patriots. The Pats now have without a doubt the deepest Wide Receiver group in the NFL, and I am very interested to see how this is going to play out. It's a low risk, high reward situation for New England, if Brown falls in line and follows Bill Belichick's rules, Tom Brady just got the most talented receiver he's had since Randy Moss. If Brown continues his clownish antics, Belichick will ship him right out of town. But the most interesting part of this signing? According to Al Michaels, Brady supposedly told AB he could move in to his Brookline Mansion...

Maybe Tom and Gisele will try to sell him the house while he's staying there?

5.) Tom Brady Makes History

Tom Brady has been in the NFL for a long time, so long that he can now cross "play against a father and a son" off his career bucket list. Pittsburgh Steelers' rookie Devin Bush Jr. made his NFL debut last night against Brady and the Patriots, 18 years ago, his father Devin Bush Sr. played against Brady and the Patriots as a member of the Cleveland Browns! Like father, like son, Brady is now 2-0 against the Bush family.
