Will we be saying goodbye to "It's A Small World?"

More Disney news from me, what else is new? This one came to me via someone else, I swear. With that being said, rumors are flying that the beloved longtime Disney attraction, "It's a Small World" at Magic Kingdom, will be replaced by a new "Tangled" theme ride. The Disney themed website, Viral Disney, was the first to report these rumors. Now has Disney confirmed this themselves? No. So where have these rumors come from? We don't know, but it's gotten a lot of attention and chatter going among Disney lovers everywhere. If you've ever been to Disney (and even if you haven't), 9 out of 10 chances are that you are familiar with the ride or at least know the annoying catchy sing song-y song that all the little talking ethnic heads sing throughout the entire water journey of a ride. "it's a small world after all, it's a small world after all...blah blah blah, it's a time for laughter, a time for cheer...blah blah blah, it's a small, small world after all."

You're welcome for now getting the tune stuck in your head for the next week...it was one of if not thee staple ride of vintage Disney World. The only other one might be the Dumbo ride. For some reason even though the song and the talking heads drives us crazy, as a visitor of Magic Kingdom, you almost feel like the visit isn't complete unless you part-take in that ride. Why? Because like I said, it's been a staple for so long. The debate here is while the ride is actually "boring" for kids, it does teach them about diversity all over the world and has a symbol of unity as one whole world no matter where we're from. In addition the question is do we keep the ride for the sake of "tradition" or do we get with the times and replace it with a more animated/magical ride? You would think that in today's societal climate of being overbearingly PC, getting ride of this ride would send people into a frenzy...and it almost is. I'm personally okay with saying goodbye to this ride and I'm a big Disney fan. While I think the diversity of the dolls is cool and fascinating, I can do away with the annoying song that sticks with me for weeks like some viral audio bug that won't leave my head. If I want to see diversity, I'll just go back and visit my old high school where I learned about people from all different backgrounds, literally. It prepared me for life but I suppose kids who don't have that environment need a ride to remind them that other ethnicitys' exist all over the world...

Bottom line here is while the rumors are circling that does not mean it's going to happen. Until Disney itself makes a statement declaring that "It's A Small World" is going to be no longer, don't sweat about it just yet! You can still go and sing along with the most ethnic song Disney has to offer!
