This week's local leader is a little near and dear to my heart. I have a personal experience with them so when I found out what they are doing, I couldn't help myself but highlight them! This week's leader is the MSPCA at Nevins Farm located in Methuen, MA. If you don't know anything about them, they are an independent non-profit animal care organization that was founded in 1868 by George T. Angell. Their mission is: "to protect animals, relieve their suffering, advance their health and welfare, prevent cruelty, and work for a just and compassionate society."
Aside from the obvious reasons of why I would highlight them, they are doing something extra cool and special where they are waiving their adoption fees for farm animals for a limited time! This started on March 31 and will be going on through April 15th.
I LOVE this! I think it's a great initiative to help out these farm animals because they need homes too! This particular MSPCA is the state's only "farm" where you can adopt not only cats and dogs but horses, pigs, chickens, ducks, and goats. I'm a huge animal lover and my fiance and I actually adopted our two dogs from Nevins Farm so this place does hold a special place in our heart. We adopted two older female dogs, Betty and Chopstick who have for sure stole my fiance's heart! They were roughly about 8 and 11 years old when we adopted them. The second my fiance saw them at Nevin's Farm, he immediately fell for them and they became "his girls". Here is some pics & a playful video of our ladies because I can't help myself! #prouddogmom
