It comes as a total surprise to me as well as I'm going to guess a lot of Massachusetts residents east of Worcester, that there is a UFO memorial in our own state! We know about the witches in Salem but we didn't know about the aliens...Now sure we hear about incidents and whether you believe it or not is up to you but to have an actual memorial of an incident is another thing. You would think that having a memorial would warrant a huge understanding or knowing of the incident but I'm going to make a safe assumption that only 1 out of every 15 people asked across the state might actually know of an incident that's been memorialized here in MA and that's being generous!
The reason I bring this up is not just for the random fact of it, although it is pretty random, it's the fact that residents in Sheffield MA, one in particular is causing a lot of blow back after the town made the announcement that it will be moving the memorial yet again. It was only installed 3 years ago in 2015 and since then, this is the 2nd time it's been removed. This constant moving of the memorial is not sitting well with Thom Reed, who is the man who actually had the UFO encounter. He's even threatening legal action.
A little about the encounter that inspired this memorial is that when Reed was 9 years old, his mother, grandmother, brother, and him witnessed what they descibe was a "self contained glow" that flooded their car with an amber light. In addition 40 people in the surrounding towns reported a strange light as well.
The thing to take away from this story is that apparently UFO encounters have happened right here in our own backyard unbeknownst to the rest of us! Watchout Roswell, Sheffield might give you a run for your money!
