"If It's Not Fruitful, I Will Respectfully Leave"

We just found out that CIA Director Mike Pompeo just came back within the last 2 weeks from a trip to North Korea to meet with none other than Kim Jong Un himself. Apparently it went well. President Trump held a press conference where he spoke out down in Mar-a-lago on North Korea, Russian Sanctions, and the ongoing Mueller investigation. The president said regarding Pompeo's meeting with Kim that they "got along really well" and hinted that this is the first time any exchange has gone relatively well.

This upcoming possible meeting between the two power house leaders has been in talks for quite some time now. The big question is if it actually will happen though? If you remember these two have had a history of putting each other down through digs at one another. Within the last year Kim Jong Un has been known for testing his missiles over there in North Korea through multiple tests that got worldwide attention and made people very nervous. It seemed only all too appropriate for Presiden Trump to then start calling him "little rocket man", taking aim at his height. Kim Jong Un ended up calling POTUS Trump a "dotard", which none of us had heard that term in long time, really if even at all. This name calling back and forth turned into the equivalent of two 5 year olds arguing on the worldwide playground. It was very childish so based on these two's history, a lot question again 1) whether this meeting will happen & 2) can this meeting be professional and civil? Mr. President did say that the United States will be doing "everything possible" to make an upcoming meeting with North Korea a "worldwide success", so he remains hopeful. However he implied that he is not going to take crap or have Kim waste his time. He said he'd actually leave a meeting with Kim if it was not going well. His own words were: “If I think that if it’s a meeting that is not going to be fruitful we’re not going to go. If the meeting when I’m there is not fruitful I will respectfully leave the meeting.”

President Donald Trump means business! This possible meeting with Kim Jong Un is projected to happen by early June. Where will it be held? That has yet to be determined so we don't know whether or not POTUS Trump will be flying overseas or if Kim will come here. A neutral location would probably be best but where would that be? If this meeting takes place, it will be the first "leadership summit" between these two countries after 6 full decades of hostility. What will be discussed at this summit? Well of course the topic of North Korea's weapons of mass destruction is a must with it being such a threat to not only the United States but the world at large. In addition to that topic, the other issue is the one of 3 Americans that are still detained there. Trump is hoping to win their release and thinks there is a good chance of that. The president also promised President Abe that he work on his behalf for the return of Japanese nationals that were abducted by North Korea between the 1970s and 1980s.

More updates to follow once a meeting has been determined.
