Royal Updates!

With under 24 hours till the "Royal Wedding", what are the last minute touchups, additions, things going on in preparation for the big event? The royal wedding cake is underway being created and crafted as we speak. Who is the baker and what will the flavors be? Meghan Markle & Prince Harry are going against past traditions of having fruitcake as their wedding cake, with replacing that tradition with having a Lemon Elderflower cake. They choose Baker Claire Ptak of Violet Cakes of London. When asked how Ptak felt about being chosen she said, "I can't tell you how delighted I am to be chosen to make Prince Harry and Ms. Markle's wedding cake. Knowing that they really share the same values as I do about food provenance, sustainability, seasonality and most importantly flavour, makes this the most exciting event to be a part of."

The wedding cake will feed hundreds of people so therefore it will not be some small cake. Take a look at the quantity of ingredients as well as Baker Ptak working on the cake!

In addition to the royal wedding cake being underway, there have been updates on who will be walking Meghan down the aisle. There has been a lot of drama on that front this past week with Meghan's father rumored to have suffered a heart attack recently in addition to the whole debacle of staged paparazzi photos he coordinated to improve his image. Meghan's father Thomas Markle stated he will not be in attendance and not walking her down the aisle due to the fact that he had heart surgery on Wednesday and will be recovering. It was then rumored that maybe Meghan's mother would walk her down or that she might even walk down solo. The public was left up in the air wondering what was going to happen until Meghan put out a statement through the palace, Thursday stating:

With the confirmation of Meghan's father not coming, being told directly from her and the palace, the public still had no idea who might walk Meghan down the aisle or if anyone would. Would she go solo because she is a feminist and very active in women's rights and independence? Then again what woman wouldn't want her father walking her down the aisle? In a turn of events, it has been now announced that Prince Charles (Harry's father) will be the one to usher her down the aisle. It is being viewed as a nice way to welcome her into the Royal Family. The palace issued a statement this morning.

Another update made today is that the Duke of Edinburgh will be in attendence of Prince Harry and Meghan's wedding. There was concern if he would be able to make it as he has been recovering since having surgery about 6 weeks ago but he will be there!
