Out of New Orleans, 18 year old Renard Matthews lost his life about two weeks ago and his family decided to have him waked in one of the most unique ways. The family wanted to having a lasting impression of Matthews in a way they knew him. They had him waked at the Charbonnet Labat Glapion Funeral Home where they chose to have him sitting upright in a chair with a video game controller in his hand and surrounded by some of his favorite snacks. On top of that he was dressed in a Celtics jersey and socks with supposedly the Celtics on in the background as if he was watching them play on TV. According to Matthews' mother, Renard was a bit of a homebody and a huge fan of the Celtics and more specifically Celtics guard Kyrie Irving.
Take a look at a photo that was taken at Renard's wake...
Yes, this is legit. This is how Renard Matthews was waked by his family. It's certainly unique. Have you ever seen such a thing? It's becoming a new trend in this day and age. Would you ever have yourself or family waked in this way? Let us know in the comments!
