BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Some shoppers in the Greater Boston area are taking advantage of Massachusetts' tax holiday this weekend.

From August 17-18, “most retail items are not subject to the state sales tax,” according to the state.

The tax holiday is only for those purchasing retail items for personal use. Purchases such as meals, tobacco and marijuana products, and alcoholic beverages do not apply.

The holiday also applies to purchases made online if an “eligible item” is ordered, according to the state.

All retailers much participate in the tax holiday.
