A University of Northern Iowa student, Dalton Hinsch was partaking in a halftime promotion during his school's basketball game. The promotion entailed him having to perform a certain number of free-throws in a certain amount of time (24 seconds) in order to win $10k. Hinsch missed the jackpot by 3 seconds! The crowd thought he accomplished it and started erupting with applause and cheers as they thought he had to accomplish the task in 30 seconds. The announcer even had a countdown going, in which Hinsch did beat! Turns out the business partner of the university who was sponsoring the promotion did not award Hinsch the prize because he was supposed to accomplish the task in 24 seconds, not 30. Watch the moment as it happened, here:
As disappointing as that was for Hinsch, at least he did not walk away with nothing...UNI compensated him with some tickets to a MVC Tournament & he received $2,000 from a local organization so in the end, it's a happy ending! It's not the $10k but at least it's something, right?
Should Hinsch have received the full amount of money though? Was he gypped?
